Hudson London to be located on Great Scotland Yard

25 Jul 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Morgans Hotel Group has confirmed the location of the forthcoming Hudson London.

Last month the group announced plans for “an international growth plan to introduce the [Hudson] brand into gateway markets around the globe” (see online news June 13), starting with London.

At the time the exact location of the new hotel was not specified, but Morgans has now confirmed that the 234-room property will be located within a former Ministry of Defence building on Great Scotland Yard, close to the Corinthia Hotel London.

The 102-year old building was used for recruitment of the British armed forces until it was converted into a public records library in the 1980s, and Morgans says that the hotel will “emphasise public spaces as a forum for social exchange”.

Among the features will be a restaurant on the ground floor, and a 40-seat library with flexible boardroom space.

Morgans Hotel Group currently operates two hotels in London – Sanderson and St Martins Lane – and the group’s first Mondrian property in the capital is set to open within Sea Containers House in 2014 (see online news March 12).
