Qatar Airways plans more US routes

13 Apr 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Qatar Airways is to launch flights to Atlanta, Chicago, Boston and Detroit, according to a Bloomberg report.

The report says the new routes will launch “within the next year”, as the carrier begins to take delivery of up to 60 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Bloomberg quotes Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al Baker as saying that “The only thing that stopped us from going earlier is the delayed delivery of the 787s”.

The carrier already operates flights to both Washington and Houston, using B777 aircraft, and its not yet clear if the new US routes will be served by Dreamliner aircraft.

Qatar Airways is set to take delivery of its first Dreamliner this summer, featuring a brand new business class product (for more information click here).

The carrier is set to initially roster the B787 aircraft onto intra-Gulf flights for crew training, before taking it to the Farnborough Air Show in July, and then launching it on the Heathrow-Doha route.
