Blue 1 to drop Heathrow-Helsinki route

10 Oct 2011 by BusinessTraveller

SAS subsidiary Blue 1 will drop its twice-daily flights between London Heathrow and Helsinki from October 30.

The carrier added a second daily flight to its Heathrow-Helsinki route in April 2010, but says that the service is no longer commercially viable, with the main reason being “a lack of opportunities to improve the timetable at Heathrow”. SAS currently codeshares on the route.

The last flights between the two airports will depart on October 29.

Other airlines flying between Heathrow and the Finnish capital include Finnair and BA (with the Oneworld carriers codesharing on each other’s flights). Norwegian serves Helsinki from London Gatwick.
