Fast-growing low-cost carrier AirAsia will begin direct flights to Danang from December 16.
A320 aircrafts will be used for the four weekly flights departing from the LCC Terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Da Nang International Airport every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
“Apart from tourism, the city (Danang) also serves as a shorter meeting point for local SMEs to trade within the country as it is located in central Vietnam,” said AirAsia Berhad's regional head of commercial, Kathleen Tan.
Danang will be AirAsia’s third destination in Vietnam after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and is the airline’s seventh destination within Indochina.
To celebrate the launch of this new route, the carrier will offer an all-in fare from RM69 (US$22, including fuel surcharge and airport tax) for the travel period of December 16, 2011 to October 27, 2012.
The promotional fare is available through the carrier’s website, www.airasia.com, its mobile app for iPhone, Blackberry and Android phones, and mobile.airasia.com.

According to a government source, Vietnam's minister of transport Ngo Thinh Duc has asked contractors for Da Nang International Airport's new terminal and the extension and upgrade of runway 35R-17L to finish the two projects before the end of this year. When completed, the new terminal is expected to handle four million passengers per year. Other airlines that serve the airport include Vietnam Airlines, Silk Air and Jetstar Pacific Airlines.
