The French Laundry moves in at Harrods

2 Sep 2011 by ScottCarey7

A pop-up version of the three Michelin-starred Californian restaurant, The French Laundry, will launch for a 10-day period at Harrods’ Knightsbridge store from October 1.

‘The French Laundry at Harrods’ will deliver a £250 nine-course taster menu, featuring several signature dishes by Chef Thomas Keller that reinterpret traditional regional American dishes and national favourites.

Keller, who will be cooking at the restaurant every day, is an attraction in himself. He is the only American-born chef to hold multiple three-star ratings by the Michelin Guide, having received a total of seven stars in the 2011 editions. Earlier this year he was designated a ‘Chevalier of The French Legion of Honour’ by Nicolas Sarkozy, in recognition of his commitment to the traditions of French gastronomy — the highest decoration in France and very rarely given to foreign nationals.

Several dishes will be debuted at the pop-up restaurant, including a reworked version of the traditional ‘beets and leeks’, a lobster dish which has been on the menu for 25 years. In addition, favourites like ‘oyster and pearls’, which uses white sturgeon caviar, and the ‘cornet canapé’ - a dish where a sesame cone is filled with whipped red onion, crème fraiche and tartare of Atlantic salmon will feature.

There will be two services a day from 1-10 October, with table sittings between 1200 and 1330 for lunch and between 1800 and 1930 for dinner.

Reservations: +44 203 059 649. Calls will be diverted to the French Laundry reservation service in California.
