Easyhotel to debut in Africa

27 Jul 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Budget hotel group Easyhotel has announced plans to open 50 properties across Africa in the next five years, focusing on “destinations served by easyJet, as well as other large cities across the continent which have demonstrated significant domestic and international demand for clean, safe and consistent quality branded hotel accommodation”.

The group has not yet announced any specific destinations, but says it will open its first hotel on the continent next year, following the signing of a 20-year master franchise agreement with Lonrho Budget Hotels Ltd.

Easyhotel currently operates 15 properties in cities including London, Basel, Berlin, Budapest, Dubai, Edinburgh and Zurich. The group’s next London property is currently under development on Old Street close to the Barbican Centre.
