Southeastern is to operate High Speed trains to this week’s Open golf championship at Sandwich, ahead of regular High Speed services to the station from later this year.
The rail operator will offer up to four services an hour (two High Speed and two mainline) between St Pancras International and Sandwich from Thursday July 14-Sunday July 17, cutting the journey time to 80 minutes.
In April Southeastern announced plans to operate regular High Speed services to Sandwich and Deal from this autumn, with support from Kent County Council.
There will be three morning High Speed trains departing Sandwich at 0551, 0617 and 0647, calling at Deal and with a total anticipated journey time of 90 minutes. High Speed services from St Pancras to Sandwich and Deal will depart at 1740 and 1840.
