BA completes fleet renewal at LCY

6 Jul 2011 by BusinessTraveller

BA Cityflyer has taken delivery of its 13th Embraer aircraft, completing a fleet renewal process which began in 2009.

The BA subsidiary, which operates routes out of London City airport, took delivery of its seventh Embraer 190 last week, adding to the six Embraer 170 aircraft already in operation.

The carrier had originally ordered 11 Embraer aircraft, but converted two further options to enable it to launch new routes including Malaga and Faro last month.

The aircraft replaced BA’s Avro RJ fleet, with the E170 version seating 76 passengers and the E190 model seating 98.

BA Cityflyer was the first airline to operate the Embraer jets from London City – click here for images taken at the handover event for the carrier’s first Embraer 170 aircraft in September 2009.
