Bmi says it is the first British airline to offer a dedicated mobile site with flight booking capabilities, as well as check-in, flight status and loyalty scheme facilities.
Foreign carriers including Singapore Airlines offer mobile sites with flight booking options, and BA provides a mobile site at ba2go.com, but this currently does not allow bookings, so the news makes Bmi the first British carrier to offer the service.
The new site, accessible at mobile.flybmi.com, allows users to search for, book and pay for flights using their smartphones, as well as manage their bookings, check flight status, airport and timetable information, and view Diamond Club miles balances.
Bmi was also the first British carrier to offer mobile boarding passes to its customers back in 2008 (see online news June 1, 2008).
