Gulf Air to serve Milan and Geneva

11 Jan 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Gulf Air has announced new services to the finacial hubs of Milan and Geneva starting in March this year, using B737-700 aircraft leased from Swiss business aviation group Privatair.

The carrier will offer four times-weekly flights to Milan (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) from March 27, with three times-weekly flights to Geneva (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) commencing on March 29.

In both cases flights will depart Bahrain at 0215, while the Milan service will depart Italy at 1200 and the Geneva service will leave Switzerland at 1150. The full schedule is detailed below.

Flights will be served by Boeing 737-700 aircraft wet leased from Privatair, a Swiss business aviation company which also serves destinations for Lufthansa, Swiss and KLM.

It’s not clear how the Privatair aircraft serving Gulf Air will be configured – in the past the company has offered all-business class configurations, although in recent times it has adopted this model for Lufthansa, offering a two-class economy and business class configuration on certain routes.

What is known is that Gulf Air is selling five ticket types on the route – from Economy Promo where no changes or cancellations are permitted, up to Business Falcon Gold Freedom with benefits such as lounge access, fully flexible tickets, increased luggage allowance and bonus frequent flyer miles.

Emirates recently announced it would beginning serving Geneva from Dubai this June (see online news December 1, 2010), while fellow Gulf carriers Etihad and Qatar also serve the Swiss city from their hubs.
