Readers of Business Traveller China once again put their stamp of approval on travel and hospitality providers, who spared no effort to make their journeys consistently productive and stress free.
Results of the annual voting exercise, now on its sixth year, were revealed at the 2010 Business Traveller China Awards dinner ceremonies tonight, November 17, 2010, at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel Changfeng Park. The response rate this year was 11 percent.
The event, organised along a Moulin Rouge theme, saw first-time placers and previous winners share centre stage, accepting their rightful recognition in 32 categories.
Making their debut in Business Traveller's star performers' club were Cathay Pacific Airways as Best Asian Airline Serving China, Cathay Pacific Airways as Best Airline Business Class, Park Hyatt Beijing as Best New Business Hotel in China, InterContinental as Best Business Hotel in Dalian and The Westin as Best Business Hotel in Tianjin.
Those who made comebacks were Hong Kong as Favourite City in the World, Singapore Airlines as Best Airline in the World, Air China as Best Chinese Airline Serving China, Dragonair as Best Airline Economy Class, Grand Hyatt as Best Hotel Brand in the World, Shangri-La as Best Hotel Brand in China and Mission Hills Resort & Spa as Best Golf Resort in China.
First handed out in 2005, the awards are classified in 32 categories including 10 for airlines, 21 for hotel and resort accommodation, out of which one topped the competition for Best Serviced Residence Brand in major commercial hubs in China.
The Chi Heng Foundation, which has promoted the cause of thousands of AIDS-impacted Chinese children and worked to give them a proper education and ample opportunities to carve out a better future, is again the eight-year-old Business Traveller China's beneficiary of a Silent Auction of travel products and services.
Since 2006, Panacea Publishing Asia, the magazine's motherhouse, has been cooperating with Chi Heng to improve the lives of the unfortunate youngsters. The proceeds of the Silent Auction have gone into funding reading room projects in the provinces of Anhui and Henan.
James Chau, news presenter of CCTV, was master of ceremonies.
