Fiji’s flag carrier Air Pacific will increase services between Hong Kong and Nadi to thrice weekly starting December 13 this year.
Hoping to capture the fast-growing China market, the airline ceased flying to Japan last year in order to start its Hong Kong service, codeshared with Cathay Pacific. According to Watson Seeto, the airline's regional general manager Asia, the uptake rate was only 40 percent in the first three months after the flights started, but the number has since risen to 85 percent.
The airline will fly from Hong Kong to the South Pacific nation every Monday, Thursday and Saturday. The route now boasts some 90 percent of its passenger load coming from mainland China, requiring a Mandarin-speaking interpreter to be stationed on every flight.
