Movenpick to open Bangkok property

12 Oct 2010 by BusinessTraveller

Swiss-based hotel group Movenpick is to open a hotel and residences complex in the Thai capital, and has also announced new projects in Chiang Mai and Koh Samui.

The 266-room, 100-residence property will be located in the Phaya Thai district of Bangkok close to Victory Monument, and is due to open by 2014.

Ahead of this Movenpick will renovate an existing 286-room property in downtown Chiang Mai, with a reopening date of mid 2011, and with features including a Thai-Italian restaurant, a spa, swimming pool and fitness centre.

The group is also set to open an 81-villa property on Mae Nam Beach in Koh Samui by the end of 2011, with private pools, an organic garden and signature spa.

Movenpick already manages a hotel on the Thai island of Phuket, and a resort project is also under development in Jomtien, Pattaya, scheduled to open in 2013.
