AirAsiaX confirms August launch of Iran route

AirAsiaX, the long-haul sister airline of Malaysian-based budget carrier AirAsia, has confirmed that its new Kuala Lumpur-Tehran route will start in August.

The first service will initially be chartered until the regular scheduled flight is established in September.

A twice-weekly schedule will link the Malaysian and Iranian capitals on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Kuala Lumpur departure will be at 1640 arriving in Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport at 1010 the same evening. The return flight will leave Iran at 1135 and land in Kuala Lumpur at 1125 the following day.

Fares will be announced in due course once the scheduled flights are established.

Airbus A330s will be used on the route, offering both Economy and Premium class seats.
