Immigration delays at Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport have become so acute that the national carrier is asking international passengers to check in early.
An airline spokesperson said: "SriLankan Airlines requests all travellers departing on flights out of Bandaranaike International Airport to report to the airport four hours prior to their respective departures, to avoid inconvenience arising due to heavy congestion at the immigration counters."
The south Asian island is experiencing a resurgence in both leisure and business travel after the end of its decades-long civil war. SriLankan has added a number of new international routes to meet the expected surge in demand.
