Asiana Airlines starts up new Pusan-Singapore service

10 Dec 2009

Asiana Airlines of South Korea connects the dots between port city Pusan and Singapore with a new twice-weekly service from July 12, 2010. Currently, no airline serves this route.

An Airbus A330 will be used on these flights, airline officials announced.

In the past decade, Pusan, Korean's second largest metropolis after capital Seoul, has been aggressively raising its profile. Events such as the 2002 Asian Games, 2002 FIFA World Cup (as one of the host cities) and APEC 2005 Korea have taken place there. The Pusan International Film Festival provides yearly excitement for culture buffs.

Going even further to build its reputation, city officials are open about intentions to bid for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

Pusan is also often spelled as Busan.
