Flight of fancy: BAA unveils world's largest mistletoe

26 Nov 2009 by Mark Caswell

BAA has unveiled what it is calling the world’s largest sprig of mistletoe, a ten-foot tall structure hanging above passengers in Heathrow T5.

The metal sprig is suspended three metres above the ground in the terminal’s international arrivals area, ready to welcome reunited lovers over the festive period. The structure weighs 43kg and includes more than 50 feet of steel tubing and 25 stainless steel balls. BAA is also installing giant mistletoe in its other Heathrow terminals, and hopes that they will attract over two million kisses over the next month.
