Island Shangri-La Hong Kong will launch its US$3.8 million Horizon Club Lounge next month, December. The 18-year-old property has never featured such a facility, unlike other Shangri-Las in the chain, believing the sense of exclusivity could be provided throughout all levels. But with rapid changes in customer tastes, the policy has been re-thought, and hence, the push for the new space.
Said general manager Darren Gearing: “We are responding to a market today that expects greater selection, flexibility, personalisation and recognition.”
Located on the 56th floor, the main lounge (below) with signature views of Victoria Harbour connects to an outdoor landscaped area, unique to the city. Victoria Peak can be seen from here. Conceptualisers LKF Designers chose dark wood to set the tone against jewelled hues and handcrafted crystal chandeliers and combined with Asian accents. The staff are garbed in traditional Chinese outfits, qi pao for the ladies and suits with mandarin collars for the club concierge.
