Malaysia Airlines to go partially offline this weekend

26 Oct 2009

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) passengers flying this weekend are advised to quickly complete their travel requirements as a scheduled systems upgrade will shut down the airline's reservations and ticketing services between 11pm, October 31 and 12 pm on November 1, 2009.

During the systems upgrade, these two services will not be available at MAS' call centre, ticket offices and web-booking facility for 13 hours. However, all other services, including check in, will be operating normally.

"Please book and purchase your flight tickets; make changes to your flight itinerary or make special requests such as meals, seat selection and complete your Enrich online redemption early," said Encik Mohd Salleh Ahmad Tabrani, MAS general manager for transition management. "Please avoid making any travel transactions during the upgrade."

MAS passengers are also urged to contact the call center at 1300 88 3000 and provide their mobile numbers so that the airline can notify them if there are any flight changes.

During the upgrade period, passengers can use either the web, counter services or self check-in kiosk at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Check-in times are an hour before domestic flights and two hours before international flights. Travellers checking in at KL Sentral airport rail link should note that check-in times are two hours before for domestic and three hours before for international flights.

For emergency travel assistance during the system upgrade, call 1300 88 3000.
