BA passengers departing from Gatwick airport can now check their bags in on all flights the day before departure.
Previously customers were able to check in bags the day before if their flight departed before 1515 the next day, but from October 25 this will be extended to any flight the following day. This bag check-in service is available at the fast bag drops in zone D between 1600 and 2200 the day before departure.
BA has offered day-before check-in at Gatwick for several years, aimed mainly at leisure customers travelling on its long-haul flights to the Caribbean and Florida, which have traditionally departed in the morning. The extension will give the same privilege to those passengers travelling on new flights to Male in the Maldives and Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, which will depart later in the day.
BA says that the extension to the service comes “as a direct result of co-operation and teamwork across the ground operations team at Gatwick”.
