Mandarin Oriental Jakarta reopens

13 Oct 2009 by Mark Caswell

Mandarin Oriental’s property in the Indonesian capital has reopened after a 20-month renovation programme, which has seen all of its rooms redesigned and four new restaurants unveiled.

The 272-room Mandarin Oriental Jakarta now includes 56 oversized Mandarin Rooms and six suites, with room interiors designed by Lim, Teo and Wilkes (whose previous projects include the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, and the Four Seasons Bangkok).

There are four new restaurants including French brasserie and regional Chinese offerings, as well as MO Bar overlooking the main Jakarta thoroughfare. For meetings there is over 1,000sqm of events space, and for leisure there is a fitness centre and outdoor pool.

Mandarin Oriental is due to open its first hotel in Southern Europe in November (see online news October 6), followed by a Las Vegas property in early December (see online news July 22).
