IHG’s boutique brand Hotel Indigo has announced its first UK properties outside London, with Glasgow due to open in mid-2010, and Liverpool in the spring of 2011.
The brand debuted in the UK in London earlier this year (see online news January 20), and has three further London properties in the pipeline.
The 96-room Hotel Indigo Glasgow property will be housed in a converted bank on Waterloo Street, close to Central Station, and joins seven other IHG hotels in the city.
Meanwhile the 151-room Hotel Indigo Liverpool will be built on land at the junction of Chapel Street and Rumsford Place in the city’s central business district. IHG also seven other hotels in the city, including extended-stay brand Staybridge Suites (click here for a review of the property).
There are currently 27 Hotel Indigo properties throughout the US, with another 59 planned worldwide, including the 180-room Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund which is due to open in time for the city’s Expo in 2010. IHG also recently announced its first Hotel Indigo-branded property in Hong Kong, due to open in Wan Chai in 2012.
