From 10am today (October 1) Air France will start selling seats on eBay
for its inaugural flights on the A380 between Paris and New York on November 20
and 21.
The auction is taking place on the eBayfr site. There will be an
expected 100 seats on sale in the first auction period, with a reserve price of
E380.
Auction periods will be staggered, with each lasting three, five, seven
or ten days, and 380 seats will be sold on both the outbound and return
flights. The auction ends on October 21.
Seats on sale are in economy and business class and once the final bid
has been made, the winner will be contacted to confirm flight details.
Each winner will receive a one-way flight on one of the A380 inaugural flights, a return flight on a scheduled Air France flight (in the same class as on the A380 flight), and a special itinerary of cultural activities and shopping in either Paris or New York.
Winners will also be able to take advantage of additional hold baggage
(maximum 23kg in economy class and 32kg in business).
Flying Blue members will also be able to earn miles on the flights and
tickets can be reserved under a different name from the auction winner.
All monies raised from the auction will be donated to the Air France
Foundation, which has supported projects to help sick and disabled children
since 1992.
