FIRST LOOK: Garuda Indonesia's new cabin products

Business Traveller was one of the few foreign media to get a first look at Garuda Indonesia’s latest Business Class and Economy Class seats on two brand-new Airbus A330-200 and Boeing B-737-800NG – the first of several to be delivered from this year until 2014.

According to Emirsyah Satar, Garuda president and CEO, the arrivals are expected to ultimately bring the carrier’s fleet size to 116 aircraft.

Business Class on the A330-200 and B737-800NGs both feature rich hues of red and black, while more  earthy tones are used in Economy Class. Passengers in both classes will get to enjoy individual touch-screen LCD TVs with VOD entertainment systems offering 25 feature films and 250 audio tracks.




The A330-200s will be equipped with full lie-flat beds in executive class with a 74-inch seat pitch. Other features include laptop power, personal reading light and water bottle receptacle and in-armrest 11-inch touch screen. The configuration in this cabin in 2-2-2.

Economy Class seats feature a 32-inch pitch and six inches of recline. All seats have a nine-inch touch screen LCDs with seat-back remote controllers. The configuration here is 2-4-2.

In the B737-800NG, Business Class is configured as 2-2 and Economy Class is 3-3.


The VOD entertainment system in both classes offer 25 feature films and 250 audio tracks.

The A330-200s will be utilised on Garuda’s non-stop services from Jakarta to Sydney and Melbourne in August and to Tokyo in October. The B737-800s will be used on regional routes.
