EXCLUSIVE: 5 new hotels in Taiwan

Novotel Taipei Taoyuan International Airport 

When’s it open? October 2009

Where is it? The hotel is located five minutes away from Taipei’s international airport, 40 minutes from downtown Taipei and 15 minutes from Taoyuan City. It is also close to a convention centre, Aviation Museum Park and the Melihua Miramar golf resort.

Fast facts: The new Novotel hotel comprises 360 modern rooms (all with internet access), two restaurants, three bars, a gym, pool, five meeting rooms and a grand ballroom able to hold 300 people.

Chateau de Chine

When’s it open? November 2009

Where is it? Located 20 minutes away by car from central Taipei and 40 minutes from Taoyuan International Airport.

Fast facts: Boasting 145 guestrooms including five Executive Suites and one Chateau de Chine Suite, this hotel also offers three dining options, a fitness centre, five meeting rooms and a VIP lounge among others.

Crowne Plaza Kaohsiung E-Da World 

When’s it open? Around December 2009

Where is it? Located in Kaohsiung County at the famous tourist spot, Guang-Yin Mountain, Kaohsiung City.

Fast facts: The upcoming hotel will boast 650 rooms, full-service facilities with five restaurants, two ballrooms and 10 function rooms.

Other developments in the Kaohsiung County include hotels, shopping malls, a theme park, a university and various real estate areas.

Evergreen Resort Hotel (JiaoSi)

When’s it open? December 2009 (soft opening)

Where is it? Five minutes walk from the JiaoSi train station.

Fast facts: The hotel will feature 251 rooms with complimentary wired internet service, including 20 hot-spring rooms that guests can book for an hour or two privately.

Other highlights at this hotel are the 4,200sqm water spa, the Japanese-styled rooftop spa (separate spas for men and women), a gym, a 25m-long swimming pool, three meeting rooms and a ballroom that can accommodate up to 500 people. Complimentary wireless internet access is available at all public areas in the hotel.


Sheraton Yilan Resort, Taiwan

When’s it open? 2010 (opening delayed)

Where is it? Situated on the northeast coast of Taiwan in a mountainous setting with views of the Pacific Ocean; Yilan is one hour away from Taipei via the new expressway.

Fast facts: The new Sheraton property will feature 180 rooms and suites, nine meeting rooms with over 1,300sqm of meeting and function space, eight dining and entertainment outlets, a health club and spa, 39 oriental and family hot spring houses, as well as an indoor heated swimming pool.
