Vietnam’s car rental business gets a shot in the arm with the launch of an Avis office in Hanoi.
Customers can enjoy the full array of Avis’ services including car rental, car leasing and chauffeur services featuring English-speaking local drivers. Reservations in more than 160 countries can also be made from Vietnam.
Tie-ups with major hotels and airlines will also be available in the future, as Avis hopes to expand its services and fleet size to over 300 vehicles.
In addition, the opening of two more Avis offices have been planned in Ho Chi Minh City and Danang for end of this year and 2010 respectively.
“Vietnam is a key development for our network in Asia. We have seen over the last two years a growing demand for transportation services from our corporate and leisure customers and we are now pleased to be able to offer the full spectrum of transportation services: point to point including airport transfers, chauffeur drive and long term rentals. We have great trust in the business opportunity in this relatively new rent a car market,” said Eric Brun, general manager of Avis in Asia.
Just a year ago, Budget broke into Vietnam opening in Ho Chi Minh City (see Business Traveller story). However, another major player Hertz does not have immediate plans to set up corporate operations in Vietnam according to Wong Soon Hwa, vice-president and general manager, Asia and Japan.
