InterContinental Bangkok finalises overhaul

11 Jun 2009
InterContinental Bangkok has completed its US$25.8 million refurbishment programme.

Markus Platzer, general manager, said: “InterContinental Bangkok has a full service business center located on lobby level providing high speed internet access, computer stations, meeting room, secretariat services, copy, fax and other business related services. Also, Club InterContinental Lounge provides a personalized service – exclusive breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails, meeting rooms, high speed internet access, computer stations and butler service.”

Boasting a new look, feel and concept, the hotel features a new service at the area adjoining the lobby – the Concierge Lounge, where the Concierge team will share their local insights and knowledge with guests.

“This is our brand new, and Thailand’s first Concierge Lounge that takes a consultative approach in a relaxed environment to ensure that our Concierge connects our well-travelled guests to what’s special about Bangkok, by sharing our knowledge so they enjoy authentic experiences that will enrich their lives and broaden their outlook,” said Platzer.

He added: “Our desire is to help guests make the most of their time, whether it is learning about the Buddhist culture at the 150-year old Pathum Wanaram temple nearby the hotel or receiving our top shopping tips for success.”

Partnering with Melbourne-based Australian restaurateur, author and celebrity chef Guy Grossi, InterContinental Bangkok features a new bar, Grossi Trattoria and Wine Bar that provides authentic Italian dining.

Other new and interesting highlights include Choc! and Humidor. Chocolate lovers can visit Choc!, a gourmet chocolate confectionery that allows guests to view the entire chocolate-making process. A new element to the revamped Balcony Lounge, guests interested in cigars can visit Humidor, Bangkok’s first authentic cigar bar.

For meetings and conferences, 22 function rooms are available at the InterContinental Convention Center (fourth level) and the InterContinental Meeting Center (ground level) at InterContinental Bangkok.
