Sofitel Sheshan aims to draw meetings market

22 May 2009

Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Huanghe, launched in April, is helping raise the international profile of the Sheshan National Tourism Resort.

The attraction is home to the Sheshan Mountains, a National Park and Sheshan International Golf Club, and is 35 minutes by car from Shanghai.

The 23rd Sofitel to open in China, and at press time, newest in the brand’s Asia-Pacific portfolio, the 368-room property sprawls over 1,200sqm and consists of facilities for both the leisure and meetings and conference market. The ambience is strongly Mediterranean, combining lush landscaping and water features with classical European details.

Designed with events in mind, facilities include a grand ballroom accommodating 1,000 for cocktails and 700 banquet style, while 12 function rooms handle smaller groups.

Guest will stay in rooms themed as Mediterranean, Chinese and Southeast Asian, all with private balconies and offering free broadband internet access, Sofitel’s MyBed product and a pillow menu. A Ladies’ Room category is also available.

A golf driving range and a spa with six treatment pavilions are highlights of the resort's range of amenities for those seeking a break. Arrangements can be made for guests wanting to play at the nearby Sheshan International Golf Club. In June, shuttle service between Shanghai and the resort will be ready.
