Results of Our Hotel Room campaign revealed

18 Apr 2009 by Mark Caswell

Internet solutions provider iBAHN has revealed the results of its Our Hotel Room campaign, which gave travellers the opportunity to say what they wanted from their ideal hotel room.

Votes and suggestions were received from over 1,000 people during January and February of this year, with the results now live at ourhotelroom.co.uk. The next stage of the project will be to use suggestions to create a showcase for “the first hotel room to be developed collaboratively online”.

Results of the campaign were revealing. Instead of a flat rate room rate, 13 per cent of respondents showed preference for charges to be linked directly to services used. Other suggestions included the removal of a central booking system in favour of offering hotel services via credit card swipe or pin number.

Environmental issues were also top of the agenda with suggestions that guests should receive an overview of their carbon footprint and energy used during their stay. Respondents were also keen to know how much energy at the hotel was being used from renewable sources.

Guest segregation was a popular choice, with suggestions to separate family and business floors, and tiered internet connectivity (charging more for a quicker connection) was favoured by 17 per cent of visitors to the site.
