Singapore Airlines adds mobile check in system

8 Apr 2009

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has joined a growing band of airlines offering travellers the option of checking in using their mobile phones and plans to allow ticket booking and other services soon (see online news, January 23, 2009).

Travellers can choose their seat using the SIA Mobile system and also check-in for connections from their SIA flight, providing the connecting airline has a check-in agreement with SIA.

The service is available on Singapore-registered mobile phones, using the SIA Mobile, but can be used anywhere in the world, allowing travellers to check in for flights between two hours and two days before departure.

Currently only Singapore prepaid and post-paid mobile services from SingTel, M1 and StarHub can be used. The mobile check-in facility supports most major internet-enabled phone models.

“SIA Mobile” will also be enhanced later this year to include more features such as booking of tickets and accessing of selected KrisFlyer services.

Customers have the option of either downloading the “SIA Mobile” application software onto their handsets or accessing the check-in services directly through their mobile handset’s web browser.

The “SIA Mobile” Check-In feature is available on all sectors of Singapore Airlines flights.
