28 Mar 2009 by Mark Caswell

Accor’s upmarket Sofitel brand has unveiled its latest hotel in China, with the opening of the Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Huanghe.

The 368-room property is located 35 minutes’ drive from Shanghai’s city centre, and has been built as a resort-style hotel with meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) facilities.

The hotel is surrounded by gardens and lagoons, and has room themes including Mediterranean, Chinese and South East Asian. Room features include private balconies, the Sofitel signature “My Bed” and free internet access.

MICE facilities include a total of  2,100sqm of meeting space within a custom-built conference centre. There are twelve function rooms, the largest of which is the 1,200-sqm pillarless Grand Ballroom, which can be divided into three spaces.

Food and beverage choices include all-day dining Vie, for seafood and international cuisine; M Mediterranean Restaurant; Fukami Restaurant serving Japanese dishes; Prince Restaurant for Cantonese cuisine; Link Lounge Bar overlooking the gardens and lagoons; and a poolside bar.

The hotel has a spa with 15 treatment rooms blending Chinese and French therapies, as well as outdoor and indoor swimming pools, tennis and squash courts, an indoor driving range, and a mini golf course.

The Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Huanghe joins the Sofitel Shanghai Hyland and Sofitel Shanghai Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong, both located in the city centre.
