Tongue-tied travellers get lessons

Tongue-tied business travellers in Asia may find their  solution in a new music-based language-learning programme from Berlitz.

The language audio-packs include packs for Earworms Musical Brain Trainer draws on the mind’s capacity to remember words with minimum concentration when they are taught in a melodic pattern.

David Gooding, sales and marketing director (Asia-Pacific) for Berlitz said: “We’re incredibly excited about the launch of Earworms MTB across Asia. We have seen a 23 percent increase in our language business in Asia this year which is inline with the ever increasing language learning market in Asia for education, business and leisure. We are seeing increasing demand for Asian languages such as Mandarin, Japanese as well as European languages French, Spanish and Italian.”

Earworms concept draws on the latest research into accelerated learning and memory enhancement.

The 200 essential words and phrases will literally ring in the ears, as audio packs are compatible with iPod and MP3 players, perfect for those on the move. Selected courses are already available on Cathay Pacific’s inflight system CX Studio.

Future courses are planned for Cantonese and Korean.

Individual packs cost around US$17 each.
