Volcanic Scottish superchef Gordon Ramsay is creating the room-service menu for a new deluxe hotel to open in Melbourne in the first half of next year.
The fiery multi-Michelin-starred Ramsay will also open a signature Maze restaurant in the hotel, creating a superchef cluster in the complex, which already has restaurants by Nobu and Neil Perry's Rockpool.
The new hotel as yet unnamed but with the working name of Crown Three will sit alongside the existing five-star flagship Crown Towers and four-star Crown Promenade in Melbourne's Southbank complex on the Yarra River.
The new hotel’s 658 rooms will bring the total number of hotel rooms available
at the Crown Entertainment Complex to more than 1,600, reinforcing its status as Melbourne's largest combined hotel, retail, dining and gaming complex.
The hotel will be just minutes' walk from the new Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre complex and will also have major meeting facilities of its own.
Media relations manager Tara Bishop said the new hotel saw business travellers and business events delegates as its core market.
