Hongkong and Macau residents go on the fast lane

21 Jan 2009 by intern22

Hongkong and Macau residents, who hold the China Travel Card, can make use of the new e-Channel facilities at Terminal 3 of the Beijing Capital International Airport.

Thirty lanes have been designated for this clientele, which makes up about six percent of the 14 million annual arrivals to Beijing. Not having to clear the regular immigration counter, airport authorities say, will speed entering by four times the usual time it takes to do so.

Business Traveller still has to test their claim that takes six seconds for the card to be scanned and approved.

The service is expected to be extended in the future to frequent local travellers.

The airport’s web.site is www.airport-beijing.com
