17 Jan 2009 by Mark Caswell

Low-cost carrier Jet2 is to launch a weekly service from Manchester to Tel Aviv in May, with a second flight due to be added in October.

The Yorkshire-based carrier says it will commence the service to the Israeli city on May 21, with flights departing Manchester on Thursdays at 1000, arriving into Tel Aviv at 1710. The return leg will leave Israel at 1810, landing back in the UK at 2130.

Jet2 then plans to extend the service to twice-weekly from October, with the second flight departing on Sundays.

BA, Bmi and El Al all currently serve Tel Aviv from London Heathrow, with El Al also flying to the city from Stansted on selected days.
