Hilton Hotels plans to launch the luxury Conrad brand in Manama in 2011. The property will be built on Reef Island, the land-reclamation project off the coast of Bahrain’s capital.

The hotel, located a short distance from Manama’s central business district and easily accessible from the international airport, will have 250 rooms and 50 apartments, as well as three restaurants, two bars a coffee shop and a shisha café. Fitness facilities will include a tennis court, squash court, swimming pool and health club.

Ross Klein, global head of luxury and lifestyle brands at Hilton, said: “The Conrad Bahrain epitomises the Conrad lifestyle with its high-tech offerings, distinct modern design, best-in-class service and customised experiences.”

Jean-Paul Herzog, president of the Middle East and Africa region at Hilton, said the new hotel will target the corporate market, adding that Bahrain’s tourism industry saw a 15 per cent increase in visitors in 2008. Conrad Bahrain’s meeting facilities will include a business centre and six meeting rooms.
