Morgans opens Miami Mondrian

13 Dec 2008 by Mark Caswell

The design hotel group behind the Sanderson hotel in London and the Royalton in New York, has opened its latest property on Miami’s South Beach.

The hotel has 335 studios, one and two-bedroom apartments and penthouses created by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders along the theme of “Sleeping Beauty’s castle”. Features include custom wall-coverings, rugs and furnishings in the rooms, with “a sophisticated color palette of greys, golds, black and white”, and showers tiled in a mosaic of clouds and sky.

The swimming pool is surrounded by “lush gardens” and an outdoor bar, with “private cabanas created with curtains of living foliage”, and there is a 4,000 square feet Agua Spa with signature milk and honey treatments. Asia de Cuba serves Asian and Latin dishes, Sunset Lounge offers live Latin and Spanish music with views of the downtown Miami skyline, and the North and South Studios provide event space with direct access to outdoor terraces.

Morgans is offering introductory rates at the new hotel, starting from $195 per room per night until February 28, 2009. From February rates will start from $495 per room per night. The group also has properties slated to open in New York in late 2009, and Boston and Dubai in 2010.
