Tour Vietnam by car

18 Nov 2008

Travellers hoping to explore Vietnam’s famous Cu Chi Tunnels and other destinations can look forward to a chauffeur-driven experience.

Budget Car Rental has launched a World-Class Drives programme in Vietnam where travellers can plan their own trip and decide where to go with the help of an experienced, English-speaking native driver.

Unlike tour groups which rely on a structured itinerary, the programme enables both leisure and business travellers the flexibility to move around in a foreign land with reasonable ease.

Customers can choose from a variety of cars, which include the Toyota Innova, Ford Everest, Mercedes-Benz sedans and vans with prices ranging from US$99 to US$249.

The programme consists of 15 half- or full-day trips originating out of Ho Chi Minh City to places like the Binh Chau hot springs, the Mekong Delta and the Vung Tau seaside resort town and caters for war veterans, cooking buffs, families and golfers. Long-haul options include Ho Chi Minh City to Cat Tien National Park and the former French hill station of Dalat to a number of coastal destinations.

Dan Cohen, general manager of Budget Vietnam, said: “Going to Cu Chi, for example, should be about more than just seeing the famed tunnels. It should be about visiting the surrounding areas, going to a non-tourist restaurant to dine, soaking up the essence of the local culture. That idea is at the core of this programme.”
