First Legendale Hotel for Beijing

6 Oct 2008

Legendale Hotel, a 390-room property with a strong European flavour, has opened in the Wangfujing District of Beijing.

Designated as the flagship of a chain, backed by the Macau Landmark Group, it’s part of a development that includes 79 serviced residences and 120 private apartments. Guestrooms start from 54sqm in size and the range of suites includes a Chairman’s Suite and Presidential Suite.

Capitalising on the Chinese market’s current passion for things foreign, most of the furnishings have been imported from Europe, if not recreated in Mainland workshops, from the rich fabrics in brillant hues of blue and gold to the ornate Baccarat crystal chandeliers. A clock, said to be owned by Louis XIV, even holds pride of place.

For several years, Wangfujing, in the vicinity of the Forbidden City, boasted having The Peninsula, Novotel and Crowne Plaza as the only hotels in the area. Lately, however, the place has gotten crowded with new players such as The Regent and its sister hotel Park Plaza, Raffles Hotel and Hilton Wangfujing.

The Macau Landmark Hotel Group also owns the Landmark Hotel, Fisherman’s Wharf and Legend Club in Macau.
