Waldorf Astoria brand debuts in Europe

3 Oct 2008 by Mark Caswell

The Rome Cavalieri Hilton has rebranded to become the first Waldorf Astoria hotel in Europe, now known as simply the Rome Cavalieri.

Ross Klein, Hilton’s global head of luxury and lifestyle brands, commented on the European debut of the luxury brand as bringing “the core values of the collection to life through its distinct character, location and charm.”

Situated within a 15-acre private park 32km from Fiumicino airport, the 45-year old, 370-room property has panoramic views across Rome’s historic centre and the Vatican City.

Following the re-branding, Rome Cavalieri will add a number of enhancements to its facilities and services, including a third outdoor swimming pool within its grounds and a completely renovated state-of-the-art congress centre, with separate entrance.

The Waldorf Astoria Collection currently operates five other properties - four in the United States, and one in Saudi Arabia, while plans have been confirmed for a new Waldorf Astoria hotel in Israel. The Palace Jerusalem will reopen in 2010 following extensive renovation. Other cities where the brand is due to launch include Orlando, Florida; Park City, Utah, Sarasota, Florida and Beverly Hills, California.
