43 billion The amount in US dollars of aircraft orders and options announced by Etihad Airways this week. The new aircraft will join the Etihad fleet between 2011 and 2020, and will include ten Airbus A380 superjumbos, 25 A350 and 20 A320 aircraft, as well as 35 Boeing B787 and ten B777-300ER planes.

313.4 million The net profit in US dollars made by Russian airline Aeroflot in 2007. The carrier says this represents an increase of 21.4 per cent on the previous year’s figures.

936,868 The number of passengers travelling through Birmingham International airport in June. The figure represents an increase of 2.8 per cent on the same month last year, with flights to the Irish Republic seeing growth of 13.1 per cent.

85.4 The percentage load factor on Iberia’s long-haul flights during June. The Spanish carrier says that its total long-haul traffic rose by 0.4 per cent compared with the same month in 2007.

54 The number of next-generation 737-800 aircraft being ordered by forthcoming low-cost carrier Flydubai. The airline is due to start flights in mid-2009. For more information click here.

Four The number of new hotels announced for the Port Ghalib resort of Egypt by Intercontinental Hotels Group. The group will manage two Crowne Plaza properties, an Intercontinental hotel, and an individually branded Marina Lodge Hotel.

One Dubai’s first St Regis-branded hotel and residences has been announced. The luxury Starwood brand will debut in the emirate in 2012, and will feature 220 rooms, 80 residences, three restaurants, two bars, a fitness centre, a swimming pool and 420 sqm of meeting space.
