Etap opens first Scottish hotel

12 Sep 2007 by Mark Caswell

Etap GlasgowBudget hotel brand Etap will open its first property in Scotland next week: the Etap Glasgow. The hotel is part of the Clyde Waterfront regeneration programme, and is located on the south side of the river within Springfield Quay.

This latest opening continues Etap's expansion in the UK, following on from properties in Cardiff and Sheffield earlier this year, with a Southampton hotel due to open this winter, and properties in Manchester, Bradford, Birmingham (Airport) and Portsmouth all planned for 2008. The 165-room Glasgow property includes a 24-hour reception, wifi internet access in public areas, on-site parking, and hot and cold snacks available 24 hours a day. All rooms are en suite, accommodate up to three people (rooms have one double bed and one single bunk bed), and include a desk and chair, air conditioning and flatscreen TVs.

Glasgow has undergone major regeneration in recent years, with much of the city-centre section of the Clyde being redeveloped. Springfield Quay is already an established leisure complex, with restaurants, a cinema and a bowling alley, and a new pedestrian bridge connecting the quay with the north side of the river is due to open in 2008.

Etap is part of the Accor Hotels group, which recently announced two new brands (All Seasons and Pullman – see online news September 3) to add to its growing range of hotel options. Etap currently has over 370 budget properties across Europe, with prices starting from £32 per room in the UK. For more information visit etaphotels.com.
