Frasers Hospitality has bought four UK hotels through its Malmaison and Hotel du Vin subsidiaries.

The Singapore-based hotels and apartments operator purchased the hotels from Swire Properties Hotels Holdings in a deal worth £36.1 million.

The hotels, which will continue to operate under their existing names until 2016 when individual development plans will be revealed, are Avon Gorge in Bristol, The Magdalen Chapter in Exeter (see news, April 2012), Montpellier Chapter in Cheltenham and Hotel Seattle in Brighton.

The purchase comes after the group acquired Malmaison and Hotel du Vin earlier this year, doubling the company’s hotel stock in Europe to 4,000 guestrooms at a cost of £363 million (see news, June 19).

Choe Peng Sum, CEO of Frasers Hospitality said: “These four stylish and iconic hotels in their respective cities are a perfect fit for Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, and this acquisition is clearly in line with the group’s expansion strategy of the brands within the UK, Europe and Asia.

“With these two best-in-class lifestyle brands, we are on track to achieve our goal of operating 30,000 keys by 2019.”

Frasers’ global portfolio now stands at 136 properties in 78 cities.
