The Lufthansa cabin crew strike that was scheduled to take place later this week has been called off.
Members of the UFO union were due to walk out on Thursday and Friday, just two weeks after a seven-day strike that forced the cancellation of around 4,700 flights came to a close.
Progress has been made in talks with management on employee retirement and pension benefits.
UFO and Lufthansa have agreed on a "basic concept" for these benefits in order to come to an agreement. They now plan to "mediation on how to achieve growth and secure jobs at its main Lufthansa brand", Reuters reported.
Last month, Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr said the airline had identified €1billion of cost savings despite raising its full-year profit forecast.
Strikes this year up to October have cost Lufthansa around €130 million. Pilots, in particular, have staged a series of walk-outs (see news, September 8).
Earlier this week, it emerged that the carrier will suspend its Munich-Dubai service in April (see news, November 23).
