Plaza Premium and China Eastern open first co-branded airport lounge

Plaza Premium and China Eastern Airlines have opened the world's first co-branded airport lounge in Terminal 2 at Shanghai Pudong International.

Located near departures Gate 77, the No 77 China Eastern Plaza Premium Lounge is a pay-in facility and is therefore open to all travellers regardless of airline or class of travel. A two-hour lounge visit costs RMB300 (£31).

At over 1,800sqm, the lounge offers a seating capacity of 500 and features a 180-degree airport runway view.

Facilities include a leisure area, buffet, bar, five workstations with internet access, a nursing room, three shower suites, a relaxation area and a smoking room.

Plaza Premium's signature honeycomb seat has also found its way into the Shanghai facility, while complimentary wifi is available throughout.

The lounge serves a selection of Chinese and Western-style buffets throughout the day.

To commemorate its opening, guests that reserve access via Plaza Premium's website will be entitled to a 20 per cent discount. This offer is valid until the end of the year.

Last month, Plaza Premium has announced two new airport lounges, in Taiwan Taoyuan and Rio's Galeao International, and three new brands - meet and greet service Allways, airport transit hotels brand Aerotel and airport dining concept Flight Club (see news, October 22).
