6 Nov 2015 by GrahamSmith

Ryanair will launch four new routes from Birmingham airport next summer, including a four-times weekly service to Madrid.

The Irish carrier will also commence new routes to Corfu, Verona and Vilnius, all of which will operate twice-weekly.

Other routes will see an increase in frequency, with Alicante seeing a twice-daily service, Barcelona nine-times weekly, Dublin six-times daily, Malaga nine-times weekly, Malta three-times weekly, and Palma nine-times weekly.

In total, Ryanair will operate 23 routes and 118 weekly flights in summer 2016.

Lisa Buckley, Ryanair sales and marketing executive, said: "Ryanair is pleased to announce further expansion to our Birmingham summer 2016 schedule with two new routes to Madrid and Verona, alongside new routes to Corfu and Vilnius, which will deliver 1.75 million customers per annum."

Last month, it emerged that Ryanair is planning to open a hub at Munich airport next year, with London tipped as one of the first destinations (see news, October 5).
