26 Oct 2015 by GrahamSmith

Qatar Airways will launch a Dreamliner service between Doha and Birmingham next year.

From March 30, the carrier will roster a B787-8 eight-times weekly, with two services on Saturdays, on to the route.

The Gulf airline's B787 is configured in two classes with 22 seats in business and 232 in economy.

Birmingham is Qatar Airways' fourth UK destination - it currently flies to London Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, an outbound service will depart Doha at 0125 and arrive in Birmingham at 0645. The return leg will leave Birmingham at 0915 and land in Doha at 1805.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, an outbound service will depart Doha at 0730 and arrive in Birmingham at 1250. The return leg will leave Birmingham at 1500 and land in Doha at 2350.

Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways CEO, said: "This additional route strengthens Qatar Airways' commitment to the regions across the UK and will create new commercial and leisure links between the city of Birmingham and the 152 destinations served by the airline."

Earlier this month, Qatar Airways announced it will launch a nonstop A350 service to Adelaide next year (see news, October 13).
