Austrian Airlines will relaunch its direct service from Vienna to Shanghai next year.
Starting on April 4, the route will operate five-times weekly before increasing to a daily service on May 1.
The carrier will roster a two-class B777-200ER, with 48 seats in business and 260 in economy, on to the route.
The outbound service will depart Vienna International at 1320 and arrive at Shanghai Pudong at 0540 the next day. The return leg will leave Shanghai at 1050 and land in Austria at 1610.
Andreas Otto, CCO of Austrian Airlines, said: "Shanghai once again offers potential thanks to the significantly improved market environment and increased local demand."
Currently, passengers need to transit in Paris or Beijing before reaching Shanghai. The relaunch of the service will shorten the journey time to 10 hours and 20 minutes, down from around 13 hours.
Last month, Austrian Airlines started a daily Vienna-Manchester service (see news, May 29).
