KLM suspends Fukuoka route

1 Oct 2015 by GrahamSmith

KLM is suspending its three-times weekly B777-200 service to Fukuoka in January.

The Dutch airline said the last flights will be KL869 departing Amsterdam on January 3 and KL870 leaving Fukuoka the following day.

It blamed "deteriorated performance of the route and the negative influence of the current exchange rate of the Japanese Yen" for its decision.

Passengers booked to fly on the route after January 4 will be rebooked on "the best available alternative" with a partner airline, KLM said.

The carrier launched its Amsterdam-Fukuoka service in April 2013 (see news, October 2012).
