Intercontinental Hotels Group will open a third Hotel Indigo property in Berlin in 2017.
Hotel Indigo Berlin City - East Side will contain 119 rooms, a gym, restaurant and rooftop bar and terrace.
It will be located in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg in the Mercedes Platz, a complex that will also house several restaurants and bars, a 4,000-capacity events hall and cinema. The complex will not open until 2018.
It will also be opposite the Mercedes-Benz Arena and near Warschauer Strasse and Ostbahnhof train stations.
René Schappner, IHG's director of development in Germany, said: "The signing of this hotel emphasises IHG's position as a clear market leader in the boutique hotel segment."
Hotel Indigo Berlin City - East Side will be owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and will operate under a franchise agreement with Tristar Hotel Group.
The property will join two sister properties, Hotel Indigo Berlin - Alexanderplatz and Hotel Indigo Berlin - Ku’damm (see news, February 2012).
